Central Concept
‘Lament is without doubt one of the most pathetic poems of Shelley. Each phrase of the poem is charged with an indescribable feeling of remorse and disappointment. He imagines that he’s standing on the final steps of Time. He seems to be on his previous life with a faint coronary heart and feels that h re days are numbered on this world. He regrets that his youthful vigour and joys of life won’t return to him any extra. Now his days and nights are boring and joyless. He’s incapable of having fun with the beauties of nature.

EXPLANATIONS (With Meanings & Hindi Translation)
(1)
O World ! O Life! O Time !
On whose final steps I climb,
Trembling at that the place I had stood earlier than,
When will return the glory of your prime ?
No extra—Oh, by no means extra !

He compares his life to a ladder and imagines himself to be standing on its final rung. It seems that he had a premonition of his approaching demise as a result of he died solely a 12 months after he wrote this poem. The poet had fought the troubles and difficulties very bravely prior to now however now he’s trembling with worry on the considered them. He’s a lot dissatisfied that he regrets that his youthful vigour and joys of life won’t return to him any extra.

(2)
Out of the day and night time
A pleasure has taken flight :
Contemporary spring, and summer season, and winter hoar
Transfer my faint coronary heart with grief, however with delight
No extra–Oh, by no means extra!

आनन्द से उसे वे कब भरेंगे (उसकी आत्मा भीतर से उत्तर देती है) कभी नहीं, अब और अधिक कभी नहीं।)

Context : This is without doubt one of the most pathetic poems written by Shelley. He wrote this poem earlier than one 12 months of his demise. Each phrase of it’s charged with an in describable feeling of remorse and disappointment. He regrets that his youthful vigour and joys of life won’t return to him any extra.

Clarification : On this concluding stanza the poet feels that his days and nights are boring and joyless. The fun of his life have disappeared from his complete life. The beauties of nature which used to fill him with pleasure prior to now now solely add to his sorrow and disappointment. As an alternative of sending a thrill of pleasure into his coronary heart, they solely intensify his grief. He asks to himself whether or not he would ever get that delight or not. Directly his soul solutions that pleasure has gone endlessly and by no means to return.

Feedback : The attention of previous age having come earlier than its time results in a cry of despair. However the music of the poem represents the triumph of Shelley’s lyrical powers.

(वृद्धावस्था के ज्ञान को समय से पूर्व आगमन निराशा के विलाप की ओर ले जाता है। किन्तु कविता का संगीत शैली की गायन की शक्तियों की विजय को प्रदर्शित करता है।)
